WEST HOLLYWOOD—The National Council of Jewish Women/Los Angeles attended the All Above All’s event “Be Bold†tour. Canyon News spoke to Chrissy Faessen, who works with Conway Strategic for information on the Be Bold Tour.
Faessen informed “The All* Above All coalition, working to lift the bans that deny abortion coverage for low-income women (made up of more than 40+ organizations) will be hitting the road later today kicking off a national road trip covering 12 cities, 8 states and more than 10,000 miles engaging supporters to sign a petition urging their Members of Congress to lift these abortion bans.â€
The Be Bold tour is meant to make people aware of the lack of coverage women have when it comes to abortions for low-income women. According to an All* Above All press release about the event, “The All* Above All Be Bold Road Trip and Declaration are part of an innovative and uplifting campaign that unites organizations and individuals across the country to build support for abortion coverage. The tour will cover nearly 10,000 miles from coast to coast kicking off in
Los Angeles, California on Saturday, August 9th and will conclude on Capitol Hill in Washington,
D.C. in mid-September to commemorate the anniversary of the Hyde Amendment.â€
“At the tour, stop individuals were able to check out the #bravemobile and rally along with supporters in lifting the bans that deny abortion coverage for low income women. Specifically 4 aspects of the truck offered: The passenger side of the truck has 3 screens, one is showing highlights of the All* Above All Campaign from the past year and the two small screens are linked to www.allaboveall.org where individuals can test their knowledge about abortion coverage via a quiz. [The second being] the back of the truck is a build in selfie booth to snap photos, email them and share them socially. [Thirdly,] the driver side of the truck is a wall of support. Individuals are sending their messages to Capitol Hill urging their Members of Congress to lift the bans that deny abortion coverage for low-income women. [Fourthly,] throughout the entire activation we are asking individuals to sign the pledge urging their Members of Congress to lift the bans that deny abortion coverage. The pledge can also be found on our website: www.allaboveall.org.â€
According to All* Above All’s mission statement, they unite “organizations and individuals to build support for lifting the bans that deny abortion coverage. [Their] vision is to restore public insurance coverage so that every woman, however much she makes, can get affordable, safe abortion care when she needs it.”
“The name All* Above All reflects our positive and powerful belief that each of us, not just some of us, must be able to make the important decision of whether to end a pregnancy. For too long, politicians have been allowed to deny a woman’s abortion coverage just because she is poor. We believe that the amount of money a woman has or doesn’t have should not prohibit her from having an abortion. We are uniting so every woman can make her own reproductive health decisions without political interference. We are standing up to say enough.â€
