BEVERLY HILLS—The city of Beverly Hills issued a statement on Tuesday, December 21, announcing the City Council’s identification of 26 priority objectives for the coming 2011-2012 fiscal year. Most of the plans are intended to start and/or finish in the coming fiscal year, but some extend into 2013 and beyond.

Among the objectives, sustainability and improved use of technology are some of the most prominent themes. The city is looking to focus on maintaining sustainability in fiscal matters, environmental concerns and in-staff work plans. Through technological means, the city intends to improve its communications infrastructure and traffic management.

Other objectives of note are to explore opportunities to expand and enhance the Beverly Hills brand, support the subway extension and Beverly Hills preferred route, enhance public safety, revitalize certain areas and promote the city as a place to live, entertain and work.

“With the budget challenges we face, it is essential that we prioritize our commitments and spending,” said Mayor Jimmy Delshad. “Every dollar the city spends must go toward maintaining our brand and quality of life, upholding our commitment to being one of the safest and smartest cities in America and meeting our goals of economic and environmental sustainability.”
