MALIBU—Captain Mike Lindbery, the Public Information Officer of the Ventura County Fire Department, posted on Twitter on Tuesday, March 29, that an unresponsive hiker was found on Thornhill Broome Beach. The hiker was determined dead on arrival, according to the Twitter post.

At 3:30 p.m. the Ventura County Fire Department responded to a report of an unresponsive hiker, according to The Malibu Times. After climbing 40 feet up the sand dune to the hiker, the victim was pronounced dead. The hiker was found on the south side of the sand dune. Details regarding the name of the victim has not yet been disclosed to the public.

The Ventura County Fire Department cleared the scene as the Ventura Sheriff’s Department conducted their investigation. The California State Parks were also on the scene. No information on the cause of death has been disclosed to the public.
