CALIFORNIA­–As California moves into Stage 2 amid the COVID-19 pandemic on May 8, low risks businesses are starting to resume. Most of the bookstores in LA County have begun to reopen with the new state guidelines to reduce the risk of infection.

The Last Book Store which locates in downtown L.A. is cleared for curbside pickup. The service is limited to bundle customers as there aren’t too many staff to fulfill individual requests. For those who are looking for a specific title, they can order at the website and the book(s) will be shipped. The Last Bookstore also provides a service that curates a personalized book bundle based on readers’ specific reading interest. Customers only need to fill out the form online and share personal preferences such as their favorite book genres, authors, preferred book conditions, and their budget.

Book Soup, which is in West Hollywood, now offers contact-free, curbside pickup for every order from the website. The pickup service is available Tuesday to Saturday from 11 AM. to 5 PM. at the Sunset Boulevard entrance only. Customers can also order books online and ask for delivery via media mail and FEDEX.

Diesel, a bookstore with locations in Brentwood, Oakland, and Del Mar, offers delivery service. Customers can also pick up their orders and ask the staff for book recommendations Monday to Saturday from 10 AM. to 3 PM. More information is updated on the website.

Skylight Books in Los Feliz is accepting online orders and phone orders. The bookstore answers phone calls and offers curbside pickup service from10 AM. to 2 PM. every day. Customers can order books and get the latest information online.

Counterpoint Records & Books in Hollywood has reopened, and the new hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 12 PM. to 6 PM. Face masks or coverings are required and only six people can be in the store at a time. In order to reduce the waiting time, customers can schedule a private appointment online.

The Iliad Book, which is located in North Hollywood, will resume the business on Tuesday, June 2. No more than 25 customers at a time would be allowed in the store and face masks or coverings are required. Curbside pickup is available Tuesday through Saturday from 11 AM. to 7 PM. Mystery Pier Books in West Hollywood has reopened on May 27 and they require all customers to wear masks. Pickup service is still available, and customers can order books via phone call or email. More information is on the website.
