BEVERLY HILLS—Classes are expected to resume on Tuesday following a telephonic bomb threat on Monday, January 5. It resulted in a school-wide evacuation and closure of Beverly Hills High School.
The threat, made at approximately 11 a.m. prompted an immediate search of the campus for an explosive device and an armed suspect.
Ending at 1 p.m., the search revealed neither a bomb or a suspect, as confirmed by the Beverly Hills Police Department via Twitter.
At @beverlyhillspd tweeted: “The Beverly Hills High School campus has been cleared by officers and determined to be safe.”
As a precaution, school administrators opted to keep the campus closed for the remainder of the day.
Some have taken to Twitter in an effort to express that today’s threat offers an example of the potential hazards of the planned Metro construction beneath the school.
@AgeofaDarius tweeted: “Protip: don’t build high schools next to oil wells.”
Though the threat offered a less-than-welcoming greeting for students, teachers, administrators returning from winter break, a return to normalcy is expected.
