BRENTWOOD—The 2011 Honda Los Angeles Marathon, presented by K-Swiss, is set to kick off  this Sunday, March 20.

Beginning at Dodger’s stadium, the participants will run through the streets ofLos Angeles making their way through Brentwood as they head to the finish line at California Avenue in Santa Monica.

Ginger Williams, Director of Community Relations for LAMarathon.com, attended the Brentwood Community Council Meeting held on March 1, “to put a face on the LA Marathon” and encourage residents to volunteer and get involved in the festivities.

Williams organizes on course entertainers and has run 10 marathons.

Residents, who would like to volunteer, can go towww.lamarathon.com/event/volunteer.

A person is able to volunteer as an individual, a group volunteer or join an existing volunteer group.

Locals, wishing not to be inconvenienced, should avoid San Vicente Boulevard between Wilshire Boulevard and Montana Avenue, San Vicente Boulevard, eastbound direction on the south side of the street, between Montana Avenue and 26 Street, Barrington Avenue between Sunset and Wilshire Boulevards, Montana Avenue between Bundy Drive and Barrington Avenue and Kenter Avenue/Bundy Drive between Sunset and Wilshire Boulevards as these streets will be closed.
