Burglary At Coffee Shop

MELROSE—On Wednesday, July 18, a coffee shop located on Melrose Avenue was burglarized at 3:25 a.m. and was captured on surveillance cameras.

“Toasted And Roasted” located on the 7311 block of Melrose Avenue was broken into and video on the burglary was posted on the Melrose Action Neighborhood Watch webpage. The video depicts a man grabbing a rock and smashing the front window of the coffee shop. He is seen walking around the empty coffee shop. Less than two minutes later, at 3:26 a.m., the suspect is seen walking out of the shop with something in his hand. Melrose Action shared in a tweet that the suspect stole about $300 in cash.

During the burglary, the suspect was wearing a baseball cap, short sleeve T-shirt, long pants, and sneakers. According to Melrose Action, the man is suspected of attempting to break into “Black Bird Pizza” down on the street on Melrose Avenue. The window was also smashed, but nothing was stolen.

The company released the following statement on its Instagram page on July 18, “Toasted and Roasted will be closed today (7/18) due to an overnight burglary. We’re doing our best to reopen tomorrow (7/19). Thank you for your support and understanding.”
