TOPANGA CANYON—Catching up with former “The Young and the Restless” star and author Heath Kizzier is always fun. This week Canyon News spoke exclusively with the man who adds entrepreneur to his resume. Kizzier has been busy with a brand new product that is exciting to the horse world.

Q-You are one of the most creative men I’ve ever met.  You can do it all, acting, writing, real estate appraisal and now this.  What made you go into the business of anti/thrush products?

A-“Thanks, Tommy. It’s funny, this has been the smoothest ”“ yet fully unexpected – transition of my life. Kismet, perhaps? I witnessed the healing power of No Thrush ® from the very first day it was conceived and put to use by my partner, Kathleen Busfield. She owns a prestigious Equine Rehabilitation Center in Southern California, and was sent a Grand Prix horse with debilitating thrush [a common yet destructive hoof infection that can ultimately cripple a horse] . The vets couldn’t fix the horse, and Kathleen was given the challenge. I can truly classify the product she developed as revolutionary ”“ and I don’t use that word lightly. It’s very exciting.”

Q- From world-famous soap star to corporate Vice President and Director of Sales and Marketing. How exciting it must be to be the spokesman for such a wonderful product?

  1. “Very exciting indeed. However, I’m not being cheeky when I say that the product ”˜Sells itself.’ Once I put samples and literature in front of horse owners, their heads start to nod and a little grin emerges. The No Thrush ® concept and ease-of-use takes thrush treatment way outside the traditional box, yet people simply ”˜get it.’ Not to mention that the product works as promised. I would never put my name to something I didn’t think was the best product out there. And in this case, I would wave signs on street corners to get the word out. I truly believe this is a product horse folks need. I have supervised several of the test cases and I’m still gape-jawed at the results.”

Q ”“ Heath, No Thrush ® is natural and “dry”, which is unusual. How does this product work?

A ”“ “Yes, it is dry, natural powder that you dust on. This is part I of the ”˜revolutionary’ aspects. All other products are wet, and this is what prompted Kathleen to ask herself, Why would I put a ”˜wet’ product on a ”˜wet’ infection?’ The product stays on just as flour stays on your hands while baking. It’s my job to introduce No Thrush ® to the world and fortunately, for my sake, I am dealing in the horse business. Horse people have created the single best over-the-fence networking system on the planet. Word of a good product soars over continents in record time.”

Q-You have always loved animals, so this product is a perfect fit for you to promote. What are the hopes for it in the short term?  How far has marketing gone?

A-“I grew up training horses in South Dakota so it’s fantastic to return to this world. Nothing is better than the smell of horses. As for marketing, I would say that the short term is a relative term. The company is growing so fast that we have already outpaced our original timeline by six months. Fortunately we established an excellent, if not unique, business plan before we embarked. The first goal was to create ground swell interest. At this point the web sales have doubled or tripled every single week”¦. We just began an aggressive advertising campaign in early June and I can firmly say that the sky is the limit.”

Q-Where will this product be available?

A- “Well, of course you can purchase online at our site: www.NoThrushShop.com . Here horse owners find excellent information, view test results / photos, and see exactly what it is the product does. Our web sales are the first crucial stepping stone. No Thrush ® is now in over 150 tack stores, with more joining everyday. The not-so long term goal is to be in every feed and tack store in the country – the world, in fact. We currently have interest from over eight countries. Earlier I mentioned our ”˜unique’ business plan. It has always been our intention to create a marketplace first, and only then enter the traditional distribution network. This is a flip-flop from the standard practice and a significant risk. But we trust the product. By building a strong following, we make our company extremely attractive to the best of the international distributors. And, truth be told, none of the No Thrush team favors arriving to the table with hat-in-hand. We like having something to offer.”

Q-Our readers love your book.  Will there be more writing and/or acting in your future?

A-“Definitely more to come. I have several writing projects waiting somewhat impatiently for the pen. As for acting, I never rule anything out. It would be a blast to do some episodic and commercial work. I suppose the No Thrush ® Team would let me get away to be a movie star for a week or two.”
