SANTA MONICA—The Los Angeles District Attorney Office’s Bureau of Investigation is investigating a case of a Santa Monica man who has been charged with the distribution and possession of child pornography.

Guido Germano, 59, director of artificial intelligence medicine at Cedars-Sinai Hospital, was arrested on June 19 with accusations of distributing child pornography videos using peer-to-peer software and downloading them onto his personal computer at his home, according to Deputy District Attorney Angela Brunson of the Cyber Crime Division.

Germano will face one felony count for both the distribution of obscene matter and possession of child or youth pornography. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office stated the defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of three years and eight months in state prison if convicted as charged.

He was arraigned in court on Thursday, August 1 in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.
