BEVERLY HILLS—The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office filed an amended complaint in court on Thursday, April 19 involving Paul Francis Floyd, a transient who is accused of vandalizing vehicles, one of them belonging to actress Jaime King, whose son was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Floyd, 47, who was originally charged with one felony and three misdemeanors, but is now facing one felony count each of child abuse and assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury, two felony counts of vandalism with over $400 of damage and one misdemeanor count of vandalism under $400 with priors.
Deputy District Attorney Eva Jabber Stodel said case SA097733 also alleges that Floyd was out on bail when the crimes were committed. He pleaded not guilty to the amended charges and is scheduled back in court on May 17 in Department W31 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Airport Branch.
On April 4, the defendant reportedly kicked and broke the grill of a Lexus being driven on the 400 block of North Bedford Drive in Beverly Hills. He later allegedly jumped on top of the hood of a parked Mercedes Benz owned by King, while her 4-year-old son and a woman caring for the boy were inside. King was not inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. TMZ reported witnesses indicated Floyd was on a skateboard damaging vehicles before the incident involving King’s son transpired.
He allegedly broke the front and rear windows of the Mercedes Benz and assaulted the woman caring for the child by throwing a can at her arm. Floyd is accused of also vandalizing a motorcycle earlier that day in West Hollywood, prosecutors added.
If convicted as charged, he faces a possible maximum sentence of more than 11 years in state prison. Bail was raised to $115,000. The case is still under investigation by the Beverly Hills Police Department.
