HOLLYWOOD—How ironic that billionaire Michele Ferrero passed away at the age of 89 on Valentine’s Day, February 14. His family business which included the famous, delicious Nutella, made him Italy’s richest individual with a personal fortune according to Bloomberg last year at $26.7 billion.

He never deviated from his paternalistic spirit, worked hard and stayed humble. Over the years his experimenting and his tasting new formulas made his chocolates, including the Ferrero Rocher and Nutella, scrumptiously delicious.

It was also on Valentine’s Day, that Lady Gaga announced her engagement to the “Chicago Fire” star Taylor Kinney. The couple met on the set of Gaga’s “You & I” music video in 2011. Kinney is one of the stars of the NBC series and had a role in the film “Zero Dark Thirty,” and “The Other Woman,” starring Cameron Diaz. The singer posted a message on her Instagram account which read: “He gave me his heart on Valentine’s Day and I said YES!” She also posted a photo of her gorgeous heart-shaped ring designed by Lorraine Schwartz. Gaga is due to perform at the Oscars on February 22.

Some of the most beautiful celebrity engagement rings besides Gaga’s have been; the ring Ashton Kutcher presented to his fiance, Mila Kunis, with a five-carat emerald cut solitaire diamond engagement ring. The band features a semi-pave inlay. The ring George Clooney presented Amal Alamuddin with an emerald cut diamond ring, designed by the actor. The 7-plus carats emerald stone features two tapered baguettes set in platinum at the sides.

Johhny Depp proposed to Amber Heard with a five-carat round diamond, featuring intricate scrollwork on the band and a slightly raised setting. Hayden Panettiere, whose cousin Christina attended the same grade school as my daughter, sports a 6-carat emerald cut engagement ring from fiance Wladimir Klitschko. The actress designed the ring herself with Montblanc.

Valentine’s Day and President’s Day weekend broke records at the movies. It has been an outstanding month for movies execs. The film “Fifty Shades of Grey,” sizzled at the box-office with an estimated $81.7 million in its first three days, said Universal Pictures. It has become the second-highest February debut ever, behind “Passion of the Christ’s $83.9 million in 2004. Interestingly enough, according to Universal, the North American audiences were 68 percent female.

Singer Nicki Minaj, wrote on Twitter that two members of her tour were stabbed in Philadelphia, one of them fatally. The two members of her tour had flown to Philadelphia for rehearsals two days ago. Police said two men, ages 29 and 26, were stabbed at about 2 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, outside a bar in the city’s West Oak Lane neighborhood.

The 29-year-old was killed and the 26-year-old was critically wounded. Rapper Fabolous shared a photo of the victims on his Instagram account and identified the deceased as De’ Von Pickett and the other victim as Eric Parker. Minaj called the stabbing “a senseless act of violence that took the life of a great guy.” Police are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Rose’s Scoop: All of the Oscar nominees such as best actor/best actress and supporting actor and actress and directors will be given a lavish goodie bag valued at $125,000. Last year’s goodie bag was only valued at $80,000. What a jump! I can’t stress this enough. A memo to all nominees: Please take some time to prepare for the acceptance speech, to make it sincere, moving and touching. No one wants to listen to ramblers and thanking everyone from the first acting coach to their next-door neighbor. Good luck to all the nominees at the Oscars, on February 22.
