NORTHRIDGE—The California State University of Northridge (CSUN) will be hosting a screening of “Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest†as a part of their Summer Movie Fest. The Summer Movie Fest was an event initiated by CSUN’s Associated Students. All the movies shown during the fest will contain closed captions for their deaf and hard of hearing audiences.
The event began on June 5 with the film “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off†and has continued to provide attendees with films every Thursday, following with “Enchanted†on June 12. On June 19, “Shrek†was shown; followed by “Despicable Me 2†and “The Sandlot†on June 26 and July 3, respectively.
For the week of July 10, the second installment in the “Pirates of the
Caribbean†franchise will be shown, followed by “Frozen†on July 17 and “Sky Fall†on July 24. Finishing the month of July will be a screening of “Singin’ in the Rain†on July 31.
Kicking off the month of August will be a screening of “Monster’s University” on August 7. Next in line will be a showing of ” School of Rock” on August 14, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” on August 21 and “Superbad” on August 28.
All the films will be shown on the Oviatt Library Lawn, and are expected to begin at around 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and will include games and activities to keep attendees from getting bored. Food trucks will be at the event.
The guidelines to attend the event include supervision of children, keeping pets on a leash, bringing blankets and short lawn chairs to enjoy the film, and to leave alcoholic beverages at home.
The event will be located on 18111 Nordhoff Street in Northridge, CA 91330. Free parking can be found on the street, but parking on the campus will cost $6 for non-CSUN students, faculty, and staff without valid permits.
