UNITED STATES—A Cuthbertson High School teacher reportedly stated in class that Vice President Mike Pence “should be shot in the head.”

The school is located in Waxhaw, North Carolina and is part of the Union County Public School District. The occurrence took place around September 9 and September 10, while Pence was in town.

Fox46 was first to report the incident, during President Trump and Vice President’s Pence’s visit to North Carolina to support Dan Bishop, who won the special election of the Ninth Congressional District on September 10.

Canyon News reached out to the Union County Sheriff’s Department and did hear back from Lt. Brian Huncke regarding the incident.  Lt. Huncke indicated that the comment overheard by a student may have been taken out of context and put on social media and that there were no threats to anyone.

Statement From Lt. Huncke

Union County Public Schools responded to requests for a statement by Canyon News indicating that the situation is being taken seriously. The teacher in question has been placed on administrative leave. There is an ongoing investigation, and the Secret Service has been notified.
