BEVERLY HILLS—Local actor David Arquette was in a car collision on Friday, March 5, which police initially suspected involved alcohol.Police are now saying that Arquette was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the accident.

Beverly Hills police reported that Arquette was driving on Doheny Drive near Elevado Avenue around 2 p.m. when his car turned into oncoming traffic.According to eyewitnesses, Arquette was behind a car that stopped suddenly, forcing Arquette to swerve. Arquette was driving a Cadillac at the time of the accident. Both cars were totaled.

Immediately following the wreck, the 39-year-old actor laid on the ground motionless after managing to remove himself from his vehicle, waiting for emergency responders.

According to police, the other driver “suffered minor to moderate injuries.” Both drivers were transported to local medical facilities.

Although police claim no substance abuse was involved, no actual blood test was administered.

Arquette was unavailable for comment, but he tweeted the following post shortly after his accident:

“I got into a car accident but I’m fine. Luckily I have tiger’s blood running through my veins. Haha. Thank you for your concern.”
