HOLLYWOOD—The 45th annual Daytime Emmy Awards are not slated to be handed out until April 2018, but on Thursday, January 25, the pre-nominees for the upcoming ceremony were announced by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.  The pre-nominated actors and actresses will advance to the Blue Ribbon round, where the top vote-getters in each of the categories will receive nominations.

The NBC soap “Days of Our Lives” leads all contenders so far with 20 nominations in the acting races, while the ABC soap “General Hospital” is followed close behind with 17 nominations. Official nominees will be revealed on Wednesday, March 21 on the CBS show “The Talk.” As expected there are notable names this year missing who without a doubt should be included!

I’m baffled that Don Diamont didn’t make the cut for his riveting work this past year on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” that same sentiment is echoed for Rena Sofer, who as much as I love to hate on “The Bold and the Beautiful” has been exceptional the past 2 years and continues to be overlooked. I also echo that sentiment for Finola Hughes for her work as Anna Devane on “GH,” and we can’t forget the delicious return of Kimberlin Brown as Sheila Carter on “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Oh, and I thought Kristin Alfonso would make the cut this year for “Days of Our Lives.” Like what the hell does this woman have to do to be considered Emmy worthy?
