WEST HOLLYWOOD—On Tuesday, March 15, the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency conducted a surprise invasion upon two medical marijuana clinics located on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood.
Assisted by Los Angeles Police Department officers and West Hollywood sheriff deputies, agents raided Zen Healing Collective and Alternative Health Services at approximately 2 p.m.
Operating under state laws, both dispensaries are authorized to administer medical marijuana to people suffering from illnesses such as HIV and AIDS.
Spokeswoman for the Drug Enforcement Agency, Sarah Pullen, declined to disclose the reason for the surprise attack or the items that were confiscated. One person was taken into custody by the agents.
The DEA will continue to conduct surprise raids in order to crack down on criminal activity or illegal drug trafficking within the city’s neighborhoods. In 2007, agents raided five medical marijuana dispensaries in West Hollywood.
