RIVERSIDE—The Riverside Police Department is seeking help from the public to identify and apprehend three suspects involved in the beating and robbery of a deaf Coffee Bean patron last month.

The incident occurred on May 19 at around 1:00 a.m. at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at the Riverside Main Street Mall near the Mission Inn. The incident was captured on video via surveillance camera and posted to the Riverside Police Department Facebook page yesterday.

Previously, there had only been evidence of two suspects. In an updated video posted to Facebook on June 23, the Riverside PD now identify three suspects in the crime.

The updated video, which can be viewed below, shows three men approach the victim as he is sitting at a table just outside the coffee shop entrance. One suspect then communicates with the victim in American Sign Language (ASL). The content of the exchange is unknown. A few minutes later, the other two men return and begin punching and beating the victim. As the victim falls out of his chair and to the ground, the two suspects obtain his MacBook laptop and flee on foot.
