Devin Lucien Leaves UCLA

WESTWOOD—UCLA football will be without its third-leading receiver when they kickoff the 2015-16 season, as wide receiver Devin Lucien reportedly plans to transfer to another program.

Lucien will transfer to his new school as a graduate student, affording him a year of eligibility under per NCAA regulation. Though Lucien has not yet graduated from UCLA, he intends to have earned his degree by summer 2015.

Arizona State is considered the lead candidate to land Lucien’s services, a storyline that could prove intriguing when UCLA takes on their division rival this fall.

Though Lucien offered valuable experience to a young Bruins offense, his loss is not expected to be a major hit to a deep receiving corps. Lucien may have been the team’s third-leading receiver, but he only had 225 receiving yards to pair with two touchdowns in 2014-15.

With Lucien’s departure, Jordan Payton, Devin Fuller, Thomas Duarte, and Eldridge Massington will lead a receiving corps that will be catching passes from either Jerry Nueheisel or freshmen phenom Josh Rosen.

In addition to that core four, the Bruins added several intriguing pass-catching prospects this past recruiting season, including Cordell Broadus, son of rap legend Snoop Dog.

Spring is coming, and with it, some of college football’s most intriguing storylines from Westwood.
