HOLLYWOOD—Hollywood directors are backing up a bid to keep celluloid film alive in the movie and television industry. Some of the big names that are lobbying for motion-picture film to still be used are Christopher Nolan, J.J. Abrams and Quentin Tarantino.

Kodak is aiming to strike a deal with all the major studios as it faces stiff competition from digital technologies. Kodak filed for bankruptcy protection from its creditors in January 2012, after 131 years in business, as the company fell behind rivals in digital photography. Director J.J. Abrams who is currently shooting the new “Star Wars: Episode VII” on celluloid. Christopher Nolan also used it on “Interstellar,” which stars Matthew McConaughey. The Kodak giant could emerge from bankruptcy after a U.S. court approved a plan to reorganize the iconic company.

A high-definition exhibition of video portraits titled “Portraits of Lady Gaga,” took place on July 26, in the
Hamptons. Robert Wilson’s video portraits incorporated lighting, costume, makeup, set design and narrative. The Lady Gaga portraits have been primarily influenced by master paintings from the collection of the Louvre, but one is more contemporary in nature, rooted in the Japanese art of rope bondage. An ongoing series has previously featured Brad Pitt, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Sean Penn and Isabella Rossellini among others. The works were shot in London in October and exhibited at the Louvre, the following month. Very impressive!

What is really impressive is how Kiefer Sutherland is so classy! After Freddie Prinze Jr, dared to call Kiefer Sutherland-the man who almost made him quit acting after co-starring with him in “24.” As Jack Bauer would say, “Damn it!” Prinze was at Comic-Con to promote his new Disney XD series “Star Wars Rebels,” and spoke to ABC News about Sutherland and his 2010 stint on “24.”

He called Sutherland, “the most unprofessional dude in the world….I’d say it to his face. I think everyone that’s worked with him has said that.” Prinze claims Kiefer is 5 feet and 4 inches. What really irked Prinze? He claims he was forced to take off his shoes for his scenes with Sutherland, so he wouldn’t tower over the actor, whose height is listed at 5 feet and 8 inches or 5 feet and 9 inches.

In a statement, Sutherland’s rep says this is the first the actor heard of “Freddie’s grievances” since working with him five years ago: “Kiefer enjoyed working with Freddie and wishes him the best.” Not for nothing, I have stood next to Kiefer Sutherland and he stands at my height, which is around 5 feet and 8 inches.

Rose’s Scoop: Terrence Howard claims he can’t pay his second ex-wife the spousal support he agreed to because he only takes home $6,000 a month after paying his first ex-wife, TMZ.com reports, citing court papers in which Howard asks that his most recent divorce settlement be tossed. Barbara Walters, Martha Stewart and Brooke Shields were also in the

Hamptons this past week at different events.
