MELROSE — On March 29, the Zephyr Theatre on Melrose began its run of “Doctor Anonymous” is set to play at Zephyr Theatre. “Doctor Anonymous” was written by psychiatrist and playwright, Guy Fredrick Glass; the play follows Dr. John E. Fryer who resides in Philadelphia in 1972, during the beginning of the Gay Pride movement.

 

Broadwayworld.com explained the play as taking place during two important historical events: the mayoral campaign of Frank Rizzo, the city’s police chief who routinely led Saturday night “round-ups” of homosexuals, and the American Psychiatric Association’s 1972 convention.
