HOLLYWOOD—It was a big weekend for dinosaurs at the box-office. The sequel to the 2015 hit “Jurassic World” did big numbers at the box-office, but not as big as its predecessor. “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” claimed the top spot earning $150 million during its opening weekend. That’s about $60 million less than what “Jurassic World” did. However, the fifth chapter in the franchise did major business on a global scale to the tune of over $700 million. Expect “Jurassic World” to be a winner at the box-office this upcoming weekend, as there is a lack of movies to do battle against.

Dropping to second place was last weekend’s winner, “Incredibles 2” with $80 million. In less than 2 weeks, the sequel has already amounted over $350 million at the domestic box-office. Like I said with school being out, and a lack of animation at the multiplex, “Incredibles 2” arrived at the perfect time. Nabbing third place was the heist caper “Ocean’s 8” with $11.7 million. The film has no crossed the $100 million mark at the domestic box-office.

The raunchy comedy “Tag” slipped to fourth place with $8.2 million. Its tally is now just over $30 million. I’d say the flick might be lucky if it crosses the $50 million mark before it exits theaters. Rounding out the top five was the superhero flick “Deadpool 2” with $5.3 million. “Jurassic World” should enjoy its success, because when “Ant-Man and the Wasp” hits theaters on July 6, all bets are off.
