Ventura, CA—On Saturday afternoon, February 1, 2025, a fatal crash occurred on US-101 South at Lemon Curve, according to CHPFatal.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 3:04 p.m., followed by a traffic break led by an officer. The Ventura County Coroner’s Office was notified of the fatality, and by 3:26 p.m., they were on their way to the scene.

Emergency responders and other authorities, including CALTRANS, were also dispatched. However, CALTRANS indicated that they would not be able to perform cleanup due to the time of day, though repairs to a fence were scheduled for later in the evening.

Details regarding the identity of the victim and the exact cause of the crash have not yet been released, and authorities continue to investigate the incident.

Single-Vehicle Collisions and Comparative Negligence

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility.

California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages. A personal injury attorney can play a critical role in sorting through these details to help victims and their families get the compensation they deserve.
