SANTA MONICA—On Wednesday, July 17, officers from the Santa Monica Police Department received a call at 12:43 a.m. to the 300 block of the Santa Monica Pier about a man violating two municipal city codes. Authorities conducted a background check, and discovered that the suspect, who has been identified as Jesse Flores, 26, had a warrant out for his arrest.

Flores took off fleeing when police tired to take him into custody, jumping into the ocean hoping to swim away from police.

According to CBS Los Angeles, the suspect swam out into the ocean about 15 to 20 feet. Flores was caught, but continued to resist arrest. caught but he was resisting arrest. Video depicts the suspect not cooperating with authorities and they struggled to put him into the police cruiser. Several officers, including lifeguards worked to keep Flores inside the vehicle.

He was booked into custody at 9:41 a.m. and charged with 148(A)(1)PC.
