WESTWOOD—Authorities have arrested former UCLA history major, Seyed Ali Pakizehkar Hesari on suspicion of stealing 55 Apple laptops from the UCLA campus.

The majority of the computers, valued at $33,000, were taken from the Charles E. Young Research Library on November 8, along with two others that were reported stolen from Ackerman Union.

Officials suspected the involvement of either a student or staff member because of the location where the laptops were stolen. Heseri, 29, was not currently enrolled at the school, but had been as recently as March.

Surveillance video was released picturing the suspect breaking into Charles. E. Young Research Library wearing UCLA sweatpants and shoes.

Hesari, reportedly wearing the same UCLA gear from the surveillance video, was arrested Tuesday, November 11 in a recreation center after officials received an anonymous tip.

The computers have since been recovered from Hesari’s home located on the 6900 block of Melrose Avenue.
