HOLLYWOOD—It was expected that “Furious 7” would draw huge numbers at the box-office, but how high was the big question? It’s a given a movie will do well when every theater you go to is virtually sold out. Yes, many people encountered that this weekend, as “Furious 7” nabbed an impressive $143.6 million during its opening weekend.

Want to know what’s even scarier? The movie grossed a global tally over $380 million. I’d say its safe to say that an eighth installment in the franchise will indeed happen in the near future. The movie which was the final flick from actor Paul Walker drew out audiences in massive troupes. I’d say expect this adrenaline thrill-ride to maintain its grip on the box-office until “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” arrives on May 1.

Nabbing the #2 spot was “Home” with around $27.4 million. After just two weeks, the animated film is just $15 million shy of crossing the $100 million mark at the domestic box-office. Landing at #3 was the comedy “Get Hard” with $12.9 million, while “Cinderella” landed at #4 with $10.2 million. Rounding out the top five was “Insurgent” with $10 million.
