Gang Shooting Victim Identified

LAUREL CANYON—The Los Angeles Coroner’s Office has officially released the identity of a man who was gunned-down at a North Hollywood gas station on Saturday, May 9.

Brian Pleytez, 25, of Van Nuys, was killed during a gang-related conflict at a car wash located near the crossing of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Victory Boulevard. The coroner’s report states that Pleytez was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.

Police were dispatched to the car wash after reports came in of a fight at 1:45 p.m. The responding officers were informed that a man in a black Toyota Camry was seen speeding away from the scene of the crime.

The driver of the Camry continued down Laurel Canyon Boulevard, where he was spotted and pulled-over by law enforcement. Reportedly in possession of a firearm, the suspect was arrested on suspicion of murder. Authorities have yet to release the suspect’s name to the public.
