LOS ANGELES—The Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness (GLAD) will be offering American Sign Language classes for Winter 2014. The non-credit classes will run for 10 weeks, staring January and ending in March.

GLAD is offering two ASL I classes and one ASL II class. The first ASL I class starts January 18 to March 22 on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The second ASL I class is on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. class starts January 22 and ends on March 19. To further ASL usage, the ASL II class holds sessions on Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. starting January 23 and ending March 20.

The classes cost $60 and the textbook required for both ASL I and II, Learning American Sign Language: Second Edition Levels I and II, is available on Amazon.com. To register, go to gladinc.org or visit them at 2222 Laverna Avenue in Los Angeles. Registration for the course must be submitted by January 10 in order to attend. The courses are non-credit to take off the pressure of tests and is meant to encourage the students to learn.
