STUDIO CITYOn October 12, Stephen R. Schultz died at the age of 67. Schultz was born deaf and was an avid supporter of the Deaf community. He was considered a trailblazer of his time, successfully arguing his right to attend public high school in his home state of New York.

Schultz later became an Assistant Professor at National Technical Institute for the Deaf and later joined the board for the Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness (GLAD). He went on to become president of GLAD and established the Deaf Seniors Foundation of Palm Springs.

Schultz is survived by his wife, Eileen, and three children.

GLAD will be hosting a memorial service for Schultz Sunday, December 7 from 1-4 p.m.
