SAN FRANCISCO—The suspect who opened fire on 40 passengers traveling from Los Angeles to San Francisco on a Greyhound Bus, on interstate 5 has been charged with the murder of 1 person and injuring five others. Anthony Devonte Williams, 33, from Capitol Heights, Maryland has been charged with murdering Lurbis Elena Vence, 51, of Molino, Columbia.

Williams fatally shot Vence, about 70 miles northwest of Los Angeles near Fort Tejon Road on February 3, when he opened fire on the bus. The bus was carrying a total of 40 passengers at the time of the shooting. The driver of the bus pulled over and the suspect fled the bus leaving the firearm behind. The driver drove towards the Grapevine Road exit and stopped at a Valero gas station for assistance. A motive for the shooting has not been disclosed to the public.

He appeared in court on February 6, where he was charged with one count of murder and five counts of attempted murder. He did not enter a plea while in court and his arraignment has been continued. The defendant remains in police custody.
