SANTA MONICA—In an effort to make good on helping the needy and homeless during the holidays, the Westside Family Healthy Center pulled off a big turnout for their food and clothing drive. The group collected more than 350 pounds of food and four dozen bags of clothing to be donated to the St. Joseph Food Pantry and Center.

They recently set a record this Thanksgiving donating 800 turkeys in an effort to help out needy families and homeless men and women in the community. Their goal doesn’t end before the holidays as their project goes beyond what is normally seen when it comes to generosity during the holidays.

WFHC plans to run the food and clothing drive until January 20, 2014, as they anticipate to reach a goal of 500 pounds and 75 bags of clothing to be donated before that time. Donations can be made to the center’s address at 1705 Ocean Park Boulevard. The center is open Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
