GRIFFITH PARK—A hiker in distress who needed assistance from the Los Angeles Fire Department, died after suffering from an apparent cardiac arrest on Friday, January 10 near Skyline Trail in Griffith Park.

The LAFD received a call and responded to a distressed hiker at approximately 1:17 p.m. Friday who went into cardiac arrest. LAFD officials, alongside Park Rangers, attempted to provide life-saving measures including the possibility of a hoist operation.

By 2:00 p.m. firefighter paramedics were able to get to the hiker and provided medical assistance, but determined it was too late and the victim was pronounced deceased. The hiker was transported to the coroner’s office. The name, gender, or age of the hiker has not been disclosed to the public.
