GRIFFITH PARK—On Monday, December 2, the Los Angeles Police Department reported a hiker stumbled upon the body parts of a Caucasian or Hispanic male between the ages of 40 and 50 years old.

According to reports, a decapitated body was discovered shortly before 9 a.m. The body parts were discovered near Camp Road and Griffith Park Drive. Authorities do not suspect foul play in the incident, as they believe the person died of natural causes and animals may have gotten to the body.

Lt Ryan Rabbett of the LAPD indicated during a press conference that “The evidence suggests that the person may have passed away and that animals may have gotten to it. He added that it could have been a homeless person living in the area.” Lt. Rabbett noted that they are investigating two separate scenes, where were the body was discovered and the scene where the decapitated head was found.

An official cause of death has not been determined. The name of the victim has not been released to the public.
