HOLLYWOOD—For some reason this year people have been incredibly nice, especially the last few weeks. Well, at least the ones I’ve encountered on the street, the phone, even at supermarkets. It must be the holiday spirit, the special feeling that overwhelms certain people in the month of December that puts on smiley faces and wraps them in a big, puffy cloud of kind hearts. Christmas does that to people and even brings out emotions. Why is it that some people breakup during the holidays? You often wonder, is it because they are so parsimonious that they don’t want to buy their loved one a gift? Is it because they can’t handle the emotional togetherness? I’m no expert on holiday emotional stress, but I do know one thing, it is so heartbreaking to lose someone you care and love during the holiday season. Breakups are never easy, but during the holidays it is totally devastating.

It’s been a very depressing week in Hollywood. Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds have decided to end their marriage. British actress and model Elizabeth Hurley has separated from her Indian husband of three years, Arun Nayar. The actress announced the split on her Twitter account amid reports linking her to Australian cricket star Shane Warne. Almost the same tactic used by David Arquette during his split with Courteney Cox, the two announced their separation as photos of Arquette with another brunette were about to surface.

According to Us Magazine, “High School Musical” stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are kaput. The stars of the successful musical have split after three years. According to rumors, Vanessa who is on location in Hawaii filming her new action/adventure flick, “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” took a beach break with co-star Josh Hutcherson. Whether that had anything to do with it, we are not sure.

What is going on with Hollywood’s hottest couples? Let’s not forget Christina Aguilera, Neve Campbell, Eva Longoria Parker and Tony Parker, and Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter. All of these couples have called it quits.

Christmas will not be merry for these celebrity couples or any civilians that breakup during the Christmas season. Celebrities have feelings too, and it’s always sad when anyone decides to end their marriage or long-term relationship. Granted celebrities are always in the public eye and under the glare of flashbulbs, yet, no matter which you are, it’s very painful to breakup with someone during the season of love. Celebrities not only have to undergo the pain of a breakup, they have to be humiliated by the rest of the world trying to analyze which party to blame or support.

The mourning process is what takes place during the first few months, especially the regrets. I should have done this, done that. The heartbreak lingers, and some may not even recover from the agony of lost love. Celebrities have feelings too and look for love just like any one of us. Unfortunately, the rest of the world will watch and sadly judge the end of their breakups. I sincerely wish all of the parties involved a Merry Christmas and hope they have a support system of true friends and confidantes that they could rely on during this difficult time.

Rose’s Scoop: While some people are intrinsically miserable, despite everything, let’s continue the good cheer and hopefully it lasts beyond the holidays. Let’s hope these celebrities and others who have been through breakups can be uplifted by random acts of kindness.
