SANTA MONICA—The Santa Monica Police Department announced the opening of a Holiday Substation on Tuesday, November 27. In a press release Canyon News received from Lt. Saul Rodriguez of the SMPD indicated that the new substation will be located at 1313 3rd Street Promenade. American Realty Advisors permitted use of the space which will be open from November 30 thru December 31.

The substation will operate as a fully functioning space for all police officers and personnel assigned to the downtown area to work from with amenities of the Public Safety Facility available on-site.

An impromptu ‘Coffee with a Cop’ Café will be on site for shoppers in the region who can stop by and grab a cup of coffee with an officer with no set agenda for visitors of the substation to meet officers, become familiar with the police department and have a friendly conversation. The substation will have a display area open for the community and shoppers to view various technological resources and equipment used by officers.

On weekends, a gift-wrapping service operated by the Santa Monica Police Department Explorer Program will be available to shoppers. A package valet will be available daily for shoppers to safely lock and secure any purchases while they shop and dine as part of the Hide It, Lock It, Keep It campaign. Members of the community are encouraged to visit the substation during the holiday season.
