HOLLYWOOD—At least two people have been injured in a shooting involving an officer in Hollywood on Thursday afternoon.

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to reports of domestic disturbance and assault with a deadly weapon just before 2 p.m. on May 20. Officers arrived at an apartment building in the 1200 Block of North Las Palmas Avenue near Lexington Avenue. A report of disturbance was coming from an apartment on the first floor of the building.

Officers found a male suspect with a gun and a woman who was reportedly shot. Officers then opened fire on what they believed to be the suspect. Law enforcement is currently investigating the incident.

A number of witnesses reported seeing two victims transported in ambulances in critical condition. They stated one was a female that may be about 35-years-old, and the male suspect may be in his 50s. There was no clarification or verification from the LAPD about the subjects involved. A spokesman simply stated that “all officers are accounted for.”

Witnesses reportedly claimed they heard as many as five shots fired, but did not know if they were all from authorities or the people in the apartment. Police did say all suspects are in custody and there is no imminent threat to the community. Initial reports from the scene reported that there were four injured, but Canyon News could not independently verify that claim by press time.
