SANTA MONICA—A home burglary on Thursday, September 12, lead to an officer-involved shooting with officials from the Santa Monica Police Department. 

“Police Activity Near 1100 Block of Pine and 1100 Cedar. Please stay away from the area. Additional information to follow,” reads a tweet from the SMPD Twitter account.

The SMPD confirmed that at approximately 6:32 p.m., a homeowner found an unknown subject inside his home. The suspect, whose identity remains unknown, was shot by a police officer for non-compliance. Fifteen minutes after the initial post, the SMPD posted an update stating to the public that the armed burglary suspect was in police custody. 

The suspect was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries. No officer was physically injured during the incident.
