MALIBU—A horse was rescued by Los Angeles County firefighters after falling down a cliff in Malibu Creek State Park on Sunday, June 4.

The incident was reported at 2 p.m. near Mulholland Highway and Las Virgenes Road, according to LACo Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman.

According to reports, the horse named “Jack” was tranquilized before he could be attached to a harness. The horse was then airlifted to an area where a veterinarian and Domestic Animal Rescue Team awaited, Pittman indicated.

“HORSE RESCUE 6/4/17 COPT11 rescued horse named “Jack” from steep slope in Malibu Creek SP w/ @LACo_FD @LACoAnimalCare & Conejo Valley Equine,” tweeted the Los Angeles County Fire Air Ops on June 4.

His injuries were not immediately known, but the animal was seen standing after the incident.
