Hunt For Assault With Deadly Weapon Suspect

MELROSE—Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Area are looking for the suspect involved in an ‘Assault with a Deadly Weapon” incident.”

According to the LAPD Blog, the incident occurred on October 20, at around 8:00 a.m., when the victim was assaulted near the 800 block of North La Brea Avenue. The video shows the suspect walk past the victim, and infer a potential threat, but continues walking. As the elderly victim continues walking, the suspect turns around and from behind strikes the victim in the face with a backpack without any provocation. The victim fell onto the ground from the impact, sustaining serious injuries.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male or possible Asian male, in his 20s with a mustache and goatee. He stands around 5 foot and 8 inches tall and weighs approximately 150 to 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark beanie, gray sweatshirt, dark pants carrying a dark backpack.
