WOODLAND HILLS\u2014Joel Ravin, 30, brother of the Los Angeles Dodgers Pitcher Josh Ravin\u00a0was shot while returning home on Sunday, October 4. The shooting occurred near 22901 Vanowen Street, in a Woodland Hills neighborhood at 1:45 a.m.<\/p>\n
Joel Ravin was confronted at his home and was shot several times, with wounds to\u00a0the neck and kidneys. Ravin is said to currently be in stable condition.<\/p>\n
According to Lana Ravin, the mother of the victim, Joel Ravin was shot five times with bullet wounds to his kidney and stomach, as well as his neck. One bullet has nicked his spinal cord.<\/p>\n
Canyon News reached out\u00a0to Los Angeles Police Department\u00a0who noted there is no motive, as of yet,\u00a0involving\u00a0the attack. The LAPD indicated the victim was confronted by the assailant and\u00a0that the\u00a0crime is not gang related.<\/p>\n
Several statements have been released by the family,\u00a0particularly the victim’s mother, claiming that their injured family member knows the assailant, and that they will reveal their identity to the\u00a0Woodland Hills Patch, a local newspaper to the area. The LAPD has not yet\u00a0confirmed that statement.<\/p>\n
Josh Ravin has released several statements regarding his brother via Twitter about the incident around 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy brother was shot three times this morning by a mentally unstable person. We don\u2019t need gun control. We need mental health control.\u201d<\/p>\n
Then around 12:30 p.m., he released another statement to his Twitter followers:<\/p>\n
\u201cI do not know any details on the shooting except that he was shot five times not three. He is in stable condition.\u201d<\/p>\n
