STUDIO CITY\u2014A motorist driving the wrong way down\u00a0a\u00a0freeway in the Studio City region\u00a0struck\u00a0an oncoming vehicle head-on, resulting in the wrong-way driver\u2019s death and the other driver sustaining minor injuries.<\/p>\n
Richard Dominguez, 39, \u00a0of Alhambra was traveling eastbound in the fast lane of the westbound Ventura 101 Freeway \u2013 just west of Laurel Canyon Boulevard. The crash occurred at 4 a.m. on Saturday, June\u00a04\u00a0when he struck an oncoming car.<\/p>\n
The crash took place just west of Tujunga Avenue, where the Ventura (134) Freeway turns into the 101 Freeway.<\/p>\n
Dominguez, who was operating a 1997 Honda, died at the scene at 4:24 a.m.\u00a0No information was released regarding what lead him to enter the wrong side of the freeway.<\/p>\n
Dominguez collided with a 27-year-old man who was driving a 2015 Lexus. He was trapped after the crash and city fire department paramedics had to extricate the man from his vehicle.<\/p>\n
He was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to be evaluated and treated for his injuries.<\/p>\n
California Highway Patrol closed all lanes on the westbound 134 Freeway and the northbound 101 Freeway to the westbound 101 Freeway.<\/p>\n
All westbound lanes were shut down for almost four hours. Roads re-opened to motorists just before 8 a.m.<\/p>\n
