HOLLYWOOD\u2014For the third consecutive weekend, \u201cJumanji: Welcome to the Jungle\u201d maintained its grip on audiences at the box-office. The Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart adventure earned another $20 million to bring its domestic total to over $317 million. Dare I say it now; I suspect that \u201cJumanji\u201d will reign supreme again come next weekend, because there is not much competition out there that can dethrone the flick, except maybe \u201cThe Post.\u201d<\/p>\n
Earning second place was the drama \u201c12 Strong\u201d starring Chris Hemsworth with an impressive $16.5 million. The Gerard Butler and 50 Cent action-flick \u201cDen of Thieves\u201d landed in third place with $15.3 million. Surprising debut for that flick, which has been heralded as a far-more entertaining than many might expect, so it could have legs if the film gets strong word-of-mouth buzz.<\/p>\n
Speaking of \u201cThe Post,\u201d the Steven Spielberg drama dropped to fourth place with $12.2 million. Since its release, the film starring Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks has amounted over $45 million at the domestic box-office. Rounding out the top five is the musical that seems to have a slow burn at the box-office, \u201cThe Greatest Showman.\u201d Hugh Jackman and company added $11 million to bring its domestic tally to cross the $100 million mark at the domestic box-office.<\/p>\n
The only other debut for the weekend was the romance flick \u201cForever My Girl\u201d which cracked the top 10 with $4.7 million. Some might call that dreadful, but considering the flick only opened in around 1100 theaters is not bad. This weekend sees the release of the final chapter in \u201cThe Maze Runner\u201d franchise with \u2018The Death Cure.\u2019 I haven\u2019t seen that much advertising for the flick, but we\u2019ll see how things transpire.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
