SHERMAN OAKS—A crash on the 101 Freeway where a motorcyclist was seriously injured shut down the 101 Freeway in Sherman Oaks in both directions on Friday, June 8. The crashed was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 5:17 p.m. near Woodman Avenue.

Amy Bastman from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) posted a tweet on Friday that read, “An adult male in critical condition is being air-lifted to a local trauma center following a motorcycle crash on the EB 101 Ventura Freeway.”

To transport the injured motorist, authorities temporarily shut down the freeway in both directions to land a Fire 3 Helicopter for the emergency patient transport to a local hospital. Lanes on the freeway were reopened to motorist after 6 p.m. The name of the victim has not been disclosed to the public.
