MALIBU—Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Malibu Search and Rescue Team was called to rescue an injured hiker on July 12. The 28-year-old woman from Camarillo was injured while climbing a remote area known as the “Gorge” and fell on a cliffside, injuring her ankle.

 

The Malibu SAR, assisted by the LACoFire and California State Parks worked together to deploy a team boat across the Rock Pool, rescuers climbed the opposing cliff face and descended by rope to help the injured victim just before 1:00 p.m.

 

According to the Malibu SAR, the woman was put in the creek bed by rescuers, carried to the boat and rowed to rescuers on land. An ambulance was available for the injured hiker, but she declined to be transported to the hospital.
