BEVERLY HILLS—The Night of 100 Stars Gala is one of the most prestigious Oscar-viewing parties. Complete with its own red carpet, approximately 200 stars arrived at the famed Beverly Hills Hotel to attend the event produced by super-agent and renowned poker player Norby Walters. The sponsor this year was Richard Mille®, one of the world’s youngest and most expensive luxury watch brands.

Celebrities, directors and entertainers from all walks of life had the venue buzzing with excitement. The event was held inside the Art Deco-styled Crystal Ballroom, which was one of the oldest ballrooms in the hotel. Outside the ballroom, there was an open bar where dinner guests mingled while waiting for the Oscars to begin. Upon entering the ballroom, an array of tables and screens ensured everyone would be able to watch the Oscars comfortably. The tables were beautifully adorned with centerpieces featuring white roses and violet calla lilies. For those who arrived hungry, fresh bread and flower-shaped butter were ready on the tables and the wonderful wait staff made sure all guests were satisfied.

As the Oscars started, the anticipation in the room heightened. Custom Oscar ballots were provided on the tables so guests could pencil in their predictions for the night. In between commercials, the host of the evening, Walters, took to the built-in stage at the front of the room and uttered his famous line, “Shhhhowtime!” before making announcements and honoring his most prestigious guests of the evening—past Academy Awards winners. It was a very touching moment as they stood up and were greeted with a standing ovation in honor of their achievements. The solidarity and respect among guests was truly remarkable and a notable token of the event. Among those honored included Richard Dreyfuss, Ernest Borgnine, Sally Kellerman and Anna Nicole Smith.

As a host, Norby Walters was impeccable. May there be many more years to come for the Night of 100 Stars!
