BEVERLY HILLS—The city of Beverly Hills named Jeff Muir, as the Director of Finance. He served as the Chief Financial Officer for Culver City since 2010.

According to a press release from the city of Beverly Hills, Muir started his career in the city of Inglewood as a budget analyst and held the position of the Assistant City Administrator and Chief Financial Officer before joining Culver City.

“Jeff brings a wealth of directly relevant experience to our City,” said City Manager Mahdi Aluzri. “His work with multiple cities in Southern California has prepared him to strategically and successfully manage our financial portfolio.”

As Director of Finance, Muir will be responsible for a budget of $475 million and a General Fund budget of $236 million. He will serve as fiscal advisor to the City Manager Mahdi Aluzri, the Beverly Hills City Council and City Departments.

During his career, Muir oversaw all aspects of city finance and led a variety of projects such as financial system implementations, ballot tax measures, developing financial forecast models, debt issuance and debt refinancing.

“I am honored to join the City of Beverly Hills,” said Muir.  “I have dedicated my career to serving the public and look forward to working closely with the finance team to maintain the long-term fiscal health of Beverly Hills.”

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Occidental College and later an M.B.A. from the University of Southern California.  He currently serves as the chair for the South Bay Chapter of the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers.  Muir will begin working with the city of Beverly Hills on Monday, September 10.
