Jeweler Fires Gun To Stop Robbers

STUDIO CITY—The Los Angeles Police Department released security footage on Thursday, July 12, of an attempted robbery that transpired at a jewelry store in Studio City.

At around 4:30 p.m. on May 25, two suspects entered a jewelry store located on Ventura Boulevard near Coldwater Canyon Avenue and doused the store owner and the two customers who were inside with pepper spray. The LAPD on its website, a video of the incident showing one of the suspect’s smashing a glass jewelry case with a hammer before swinging the weapon at the owner.

In an attempt to protect herself and her customers, the owner fired her registered handgun at the two suspects. The suspects fled the store without being struck. No jewelry was taken from the establishment.

According to the LAPD, the first suspect is described as a dark-haired Hispanic or White male between the ages of 30 and 40. He weighs around 150 pounds and stands around 6 feet tall. During the incident, he was seen wearing a blue long sleeve button down shirt, khaki pants, black tennis shoes, sunglasses, and a watch on his left wrist.

The second suspect is a dark-haired Hispanic male between the ages of 40 and 50. He weighs around 175 pounds and stands around 6 feet tall. During the incident, he was seen wearing a white long sleeve button down shirt, bow tie, sunglasses, and an earring in his left ear.
