NORTHRIDGE—On February 26, the National Council on Deafness (NCOD) at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) continues their Enlightenment Seminars with Kenneth Rothschild’s presentation entitled “Stamps and Deaf People.”

Known as an outstanding philatelic collector, historian and storyteller, Kenneth Rothschild’s background also includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Gallaudet

College. The native New Yorker began collecting stamps at the age of 16, starting with postage stamps from the United States before collecting stamps from other countries. The flyer released by CSUN’s NCOD states that Rothschild’s intrigue with deaf culture in stamps began in the early 1980s.  His collection is both nationally and internationally known from the many conferences he’s attended.

Rothschild’s presentation displays stamps from the deaf community, as well as stamps that depict the deaf community. Some of the stamps that will be shown at the event will date back 150 years.

The seminar will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in CSUN/NCOD Multi-Purpose Room on 1811 Nordhoff Street, Northridge, CA
