STUDIO CITY—Kyle Lowder, who portrays Rick Forrester on CBS’s “The Bold and the Beautiful,” is an acting genius catapulted to fame over the past decade thanks to the popularity of both NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” and CBS’s mega hit helmed by two-time Emmy Award® winning producer and writer Bradley P. Bell. This week Lowder took time out of his busy schedule upon returning from New York to celebrate his father’s birthday to speak exclusively with Canyon News about his new self-titled album “Kyle Lowder” and his amazing run on “B&B.” Kyle spoke candidly about his respect for his show’s producer and the geniuses in front of and behind the camera that make “The Bold and the Beautiful” such an iconic and worldwide popular series.
Knowing that Kyle has recently been placed on recurring-status, I asked about his new status on the series and he was honest about it all. “You know Tommy, I would be lying if I said it doesn’t matter. I love ”˜B&B’ and the character of Rick, that I selfishly feel like it’s my very own. But Brad [Bell] and I had a great conversation, and he admitted that the only reason he was putting me on recurring at this time is that he’s busy with so many other great storylines and he assured me, that whenever he finds a place for Rick and a storyline to include him in, that I am still very much Rick Forrester, said Lowder. “He’s really great about that. ”˜B&B’ a half-hour series, and he has such a big amazing cast, I’m just so honored that I had the opportunity over these past few years to play the role. This show has been an incredible opportunity for me, even more so for my career and yes, my newest career in music.”
Kyle’s new obsession aside from his family is that of being a singer. The classically trained songster has enjoyed the love of music since being trained as a child to perform. His hit album titled “Kyle Lowder” is on iTunes and Amazon.com, and this week it remained at the number-one spot in its category. It’s no surprise to Lowder that his “B&B” and “Days” fans are a huge part of his musical success. “I have been so blessed, not only my own fans, but the ”˜Days of our Lives’ and ”˜Bold and Beautiful’ fan bases have helped make this a success for me. It’s bitter-sweet, because I realize that although I’m not on the show [B&B] right now, that it’s truly the opportunity that Brad gave me these past few years that enabled me to have the opportunity to be in so many people’s homes. The show is very popular here in the U.S. but even more so overseas and in Italy. That’s where I found a world renowned composer, who knew me from the series and asked me to do this album,” said the handsome singer.
“Kyle Lowder” has five amazing songs on it, all of which really mean a lot to the singer. Lowder said, “I really wanted this to be about me and where I am in my life right now. I have a new child, a beautiful wife and great friends and I’ve had the most incredible experience being two great characters on two soaps, I still have nothing but admiration and respect for those shows and for Ken [Corday] and Brad [Bell]. That’s why we decided to just name it ”˜Kyle Lowder.’”
The self-titled album makes history not only for its sales figures but also as one of the most talented actors in the world and most popular soap superstars in Hollywood stuns his soap audience with one of the most incredibly soulful and sincere musical compilations since “The Beatles” and Elvis Presley released their music in the 1960s. Lowder’s song “Together” is perfect for that guy who is trying to convince his girl that they are meant for each other. It’s sung with an amazing enthusiasm and is heart wrenching. “In Memoria” is destined to become a classic, “Morning Moon” could not be performed better by anyone in music today, “A Second Life” offers the listener hope and “Should I” expresses his dreams and desires for the future.
Lowder’s future is bright. 40 million “B&B” viewers are hopeful that he’ll return to our favorite show, and so is Kyle. “I’m busy promoting my album right now, Tommy. But sure, Brad and the Bells gave me a great opportunity and it’s hopefully not over yet,” said the star. Brad Bell is the center of the daytime TV universe. The two-time Emmy Award® winner is one of the most talented men in Hollywood’s fabled history. His mother Lee Phillip Bell is one of his biggest supporters. Thought she’s not alone. Beverly Hills socialite and actress Constance Towers says, “I have known Brad’s parents for decades, and he embodies the best attributes of both his parents, who are legends. He’s possessed with true entertainment talent. He’s truly a living legend, even though he’s still so young. That Kyle Lowder is one handsome leading man and so talented as well.”
