GRIFFITH PARK—The Los Angeles Zoo Lights festive holiday display returns in its third year for visitors of all ages to enjoy from Friday, November 18 through January 8, 2017.

This year’s Los Angeles Zoo Lights iteration commences the Los Angeles Zoo’s 50th anniversary celebration known as “ZooLAbration.” The event showcases thousands of LED lights with elephant statues animated with projection mapping, a twinkly light tunnel, and a purple disco ball forest. Sitting on top of the lair for amphibians, invertebrates and reptiles will be a giant illuminated snake.

In addition, this year will feature new attractions including a laser show, waterfall display and shadow puppet installation. Guests can take photos with Santa on select dates and see a real reindeer family.

There are two VIP experiences available. The first is the Holiday Happy Hours VIP experience on December 8 and December 15, where the 21-and-over crowd can enjoy beer, wine, and hot and old specialty cocktails inside a private lounge. Tickets are $75 per person and include a “skip-the-line” express entry to the zoo lights display.

The second VIP experience is the Family New Year’s Eve on December 31 that gives visitors the chance to celebrate New Year’s at the zoo. The experience includes a dinner buffet, soft drinks, complimentary champagne for adults, sparkling apple cider for kids, dessert, a ride on the Zoo’s carousel, DJ dance party and more. A live broadcast of New York’s Times Square ball drop at 9 p.m. will also be part of the celebration. Tickets are $65 for adults and $40 for children for this family VIP experience.

The Zoo Lights are from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and admission starts from $9. Admission for children under age 2 is free. The event is closed on November 24, December 24 and December 25.
