LAS VEGAS, NV—The Los Angeles Lakers lost a preseason match up against the Golden State Warriors 112-107, on Saturday, October 15.

This was the first meeting between newly minted Lakers Head Coach Luke Walton and the Golden State Warriors. Walton spent the past two years on the Golden State bench and led the team to a league best 39-4 record to start last season.  The young Lakers core was heavily outmatched by a team that boasts the best NBA record of all time, two straight finals appearances and two MVP’s in Steph Curry and Kevin Durant.

Los Angeles trailed 74-47 at halftime, unable to answer the hot shooting of Golden State. Klay Thompson made 4-4 three pointers in the first quarter and led all scorers with 24 points. Luke Walton thought his young roster had learned something from the Warriors in the loss.

“This was a good lesson for our guys. The way the Warriors cut, how quickly the ball moves from one man to the next, playing aggressive on the defensive end, these are all things that we want to get better at. There’s a lot to be able to watch on tape and learn and hopefully grow from it as a group,” said Walton.

Nick Young continued to shoot well in the preseason, leading the Lakers with 17 points on 6 of 9 shooting. The Lakers have lost three games in a row, and face the Warriors again on Wednesday, October 18.
